Rising Star

Glow Up is over for another year and I have loved every single episode. I think I've been even more invested as I've basically studied it as I've watched this year. Every challenge that was shown I thought about what my interpretation would be and how I would carry it out. It's been so much fun and such a great opportunity to actually put my thoughts and ideas into practice as part of the Girl Meets Brush (GMB) Academy for MUAs.

GMB founder and celebrity MUA Lynne Mills set us weekly tasks within the academy inspired by that week's episode, with winner and runner up awards each week. There would be an Overall Winner of the series, Runners Up and a Rising Star award, with the Overall Winner being awarded a feature on The Glossy Magazine (!!!) as well as a range of GMB makeup palettes.

The talent within the academy is insane and I was thrilled (and very surprised) to win a few runner up positions and one winner position over the 8 weeks - I certainly didn't expect to be anywhere near any of the overall awards. When I was announced as this year's Rising Star to say I was shocked would be a huge understatement!

To win this award you had to have "consistently submitted & shown creativity as well as development throughout" the competition. I really tried to push myself as the weeks went on and I feel like I've learnt a lot and discovered more about different areas of makeup. Having never done any form of SFX makeup before I actually loved working with liquid latex to create some gory injuries on poor Pete (week 6)!

I'll be putting together another post with all my entries soon but I'll leave it there for now. I'm so pleased, so grateful and, dare I say it...quite proud of myself 😉

Lots of love,

Clare x
